I just found these DIY crib covers on ebay! OO la la! I admit I already have a really cute crib set for Kenzi but now I'm tempted to start shopping/diying again. Now that Kenzi can walk, actually more like run around without stopping, she needs to be able to get out of bed on her own and that means converting her crip into a toddler crib/bed. So I think thats a good excuse to redo her room.

(I just got this carseat but in a different colour scheme! I'm so happy and can't wait to fiddle around with it and learn how to take it in and out of the car!! I have to admit I'm finally starting to feel like a real mommy now that i'm buying her things!)

UPDATE: wow i wrote this post before Kenzi was born. lol. She is in a toddler seat now. I didn't bother getting her a fancy one because she drinks from a cup now and that means spills galore. So I stuck with all black this time.

I orded my freebies and can't wait to review them! The baby genius song downloads are amazing. Its a whole album of baby-toddler songs all about daycare/preshchool. We listen to it everytime we get in the car and my 9 month old girl just loves them! They teach great things about keeping your hands to yourself and washing up, being brave when mommy drops your off at school and all sorts of educational things. I really recomend it for little ones.

My Baby's Premature Birth

So I'm back and I'm sure many of you are wondering wear on earth I've been since the summer. And as much as I'd love to tell all of you that I was vacationing in South Africa enjoying the cool breezes and even cooler drinks, I can't. No, instead these months have been filled with anguish and worrying. Hours of staying up at night listening to frail breaths and tiny heart beats. But Alhamdulilah Its over now and I'm enjoying life with a healthy and adorable baby girl! Yes, my baby was born prematurely. The water broke early and 6 hours later I delivered a tiny little girl. I barely pushed for 30 minutes when she popped herself out. It was the hardest 30 minutes of my life. Especially considering I had absolutely no medicene at all. But it was all worth it. The doctor can't tell me what went wrong only that my lil girl was just ready to be born. I dont know if i'll ever be ready to have another little one soon but I'm in love with the baby I have now!! She is my miracle!

I've been MIA for like forever.

Putting the reasons aside since they aren't very cheerful I'll just go on to say that i'm back and hopefully for good this time!

1) did i deliver the baby, NO thanx for your concern though i appreciate it!

2) Was I scared or nervous to get married, NO i was sooo happy and excited!

Hijabi/Bump Approved Ginger-Melon cocktail!

This non-alcoholic cocktail gives a little zing to the watermelon and raspberry combination with the addition of ginger ale rather than adding in tonic water or plain club soda. The Ginger Melon is lightly refreshing, not too sweet and easily put together for a winning combination.

Ginger Melon –

6 Watermelon Chunks

5 Raspberries

1 Lemon Wedge – Squeezed

Ginger Ale

1/2 ounce Grenadine

2 Raspberries Garnish

Muddle watermelon, raspberries and squeezed lemon juice in bottom of mixing glass. Strain into a tall glass over fresh ice. Top off with ginger ale leaving room for 1/2 ounce grenadine float. Garnish with 2 skewered raspberries.

Tips for Shapely Legs!

Hey girls!

I often get asked how I keep my legs long and lean so I thought I'd write a post about it here.

*Secret tips alert*

Firstly I was lucky enough to be born with gene's that say my legs are longer than most! But even some girls with long legs dont know how to take care of them. So, listen up:

1) Drink plenty of water. Hydrated skin is less prone to strech marks.

2) Exfoliate every morning in the shower.

3) either wax or use Nair creme for a good year straight. I did and hair doesn't grow on my legs anymore.

4) If you want to get a tan (fake or real) make sure your legs are evenly toned.

5) Try using fake tanner on the inner and outer sides of your legs to make your legs appear slimmer, just dont go overboard or it'll look gay.

6) Always Always Always have pedicured toes, painted or not, gross feet take beauty away from legs!

7) Strech or yoga

8) Walk walk walk! at least 30 min a day. I get an hour in. It lengthens and tones your legs without building muscle!

9) Stand with your toes on the edge of a step stool or stair and lift your heels up and down, this is to tone your back calves.

10) Get on your knees and elbows and slightly lift one of your knees off of the ground. Bring your foot up to the sky but dont let your knee go higher than your buttocks. Make sure to clench your bum. This is to tone your lower bum!

11) Moisturize every night before going to sleep!

Thats how I keep my legs long, toned, soft and shiny!

Hey girls!

Salam, shaloum, peace be to you!

So, my husband and I have been furniture shopping for the wee wittle one. And we've come to the conclusion that it'd probably be best to stick with white. Why you ask. Well once we have our baby shower I know like all other middle easterner filled occasion we are not going to get anything we asked for on our registry. So white is a pretty neutral colour to match incase someone doesn't provide a gift receipt.

The main reason for this post is to get an opinion from anyone who has a baby already or lives with one. Whats the best type of crib? Portable? Convertable? Plain Jane?

I'm thinking convertable because it'll be of use once the baby hits her walking years.

pss: Didn't mean to offend anyone with the Nadja/Aids post! It was a post expressing my pleasure with the way I was raised and how it has benefitted me. To me religion has nothing to do with anything. You can be wtv you want to it doesn't make you good or bad. In the end its about decisions. I'm glad my parents instilled certain things in me because it helps me to pick and choose wat i'd like to do w my life. I can't speak for all muslims by any way. hell my two best friends dont follow at all. One is a stoner and the other was a lingerie model. they r both muslims. I for example have a very hard time with the veil/hijab. its supposed to be a 'muslim' thing but i was raised believing its not important at all. and i'm glad thats what my parents taught me becuase it has led me to realize not all veiled girls are good people. Its what inside and the actions you take that lead your path. In the words of khalil gibran "every religion is like a finger, every finger leads to a hand, and that hand is the hand of God" !

Iftar - Dinner Prep

Hey girls! todays post is Moghrabieh soup

This is a delicious soup, even without the moghrabieh. If you can’t find it, you can substitute pearled barley or Israeli couscous or leave it out completely.

1 large onion, chopped
2 ribs celery, diced
2 carrots, diced
4 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/8-1/4 teaspoon chilli powder or cayenne
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
generous pinch saffron, lightly crushed
2 bay leaves
1 3-inch cinnamon stick
3 cups cooked chickpeas (or 2 cans, drained and rinsed)
8-10 cups vegetable broth (or water plus bouillon)
1/4 cup moghrabieh or substitute (see above)
salt to taste
1/2 cup chopped parsley
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Spray a large saucepan with olive oil spray and heat it. Add the onion, celery, and carrot and cook over medium-high heat until the onion begins to brown (about 5 minutes). Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the spices, including bay leaves and cinnamon stick, and cook, stirring, for another minute. Add the chickpeas and stir to coat them with the spices. Pour in the 8 cups of vegetable stock, bring to a boil, and reduce heat to a simmer for 10 minutes. Add salt to taste.

Add the moghrabieh and cover and cook until it is tender, about 25 minutes. Check frequently to see if it is becoming dry and add broth as needed. Just before serving, stir in the parsley and lemon juice.

Makes about 6-8 servings.

Based on 6 servings: 185 Calories (kcal); 3g Total Fat; (11% calories from fat); 8g Protein; 36g Carbohydrate; 0mg Cholesterol; 31mg Sodium; 6g Fiber

Cappuccino Recipe

Ingredients: Maxwell House International cafe Vanilla Caramel latte (or flavour of your preference)

water

first boil half a cup of water and half a cup of milk seperately. Mix one or two spoons of your Maxwell Mix into the water while it is boiling. Then pour it into a mug. Dont let the milk scald but when its finished heating up pour it into the water/mix mixture and stir lightly. Top with mounds of whip creme and any topping you fancy....sprinkles, cinnamon, marshmallows, chocolate, caramel.

Fall Trends: Charlotte Russe

On Fall trends I would pick up these babies from Charlotte Russe. The lace top would look great in black on top of jeans even with a growing belly. You could pair it with heals and you've got instant fabulousness.

The leopard print top looks great with a coloured cardi and some layered necklaces. I'd choose this in a longer version so that I could wear it with leggings or jeggings and ballet flats.

ps. I'm so excited to start a new idea for this Ramadan! Iftar prep. Everyday I'll post pics and recipes of the foods I prepared for iftar so anyone in a different time zone can share the beautiful meal too! Today I've been cooking for the Mosque. I made Shourbet 3adas (red lentil soup), wara'dawaleh (grape leaves), fatoush (syrian salad w croutons), fruit salad, and someone else prepared the meat and rice! So today I'll give a grape leave tutorial!!

SYRIAN GRAPE LEAVES WARA'3ENAB OR DAWALEH

Ingredients

1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1 large yellow onion, finely chopped
1 small fennel bulb, halved, cored and diced
1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/2 cup pine nuts
1 cup long-grain rice
1 1/2 cups chicken stock
2 tablespoons finely chopped dill leaves
1/4 cup finely chopped flat-leaf parsley
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1 (8-ounce) jar grape leaves, rinsed and drained
2 lemons, juiced

Directions

To make the filling, coat a large saute pan with 1/4 cup of the oil and place over medium heat. Add the onion, fennel and lemon zest and stir until soft, about 10 minutes. Add the pine nuts and rice, saute for 2 minutes, stirring to coat. Pour in just 1/2 cup of the chicken stock and lower the heat. Simmer until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is al dente, about 10 minutes. Scrape the parboiled rice mixture into a bowl and add the dill and parsley; season with salt and pepper. Allow to cool. Now on to the grape leaves.
Bring a big pot of water to a simmer. Blanch the grape leaves in the hot water for 5 minutes until pliable. Drain then trim the stems and any hard veins from the leaves. Pat dry with paper towels.
To assemble the dolmades, lay a grape leaf on a work surface, shiny-side down. Put 2 tablespoons of the rice filling near the stem end of the leaf. Fold the stem end over the filling, then fold both sides toward the middle, and roll up into a cigar – it should be snug but not overly tight because the rice will swell once it is fully cooked. Squeeze lightly in the palm of your hand to secure the roll. Repeat with remaining grape leaves and filling.
Place the dolmades in a large Dutch oven or wide deep skillet, seam-side down in a single layer. Pour the remaining cup of broth, remaining olive oil, and the lemon juice over the dolmades, the liquid should reach halfway up the rolls, add some water if necessary. Cover the pan and simmer over low heat for 30 to 40 minutes, until the dolmades are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm, at room temperature or cool.

Hello my pregnant beauties, studying damsels and beloved females of the world!

It might be mid-August but if you've been shopping lately then you noticed the new fall clothing taking their places on the racks! Since I dont drive I have to wait for my husband or friends to take me shopping and with that I have to be very responsible with time and know exactly what I want before I go into a mall. This makes me a very good Shopping planner. And today I'm going to share my shopping tips with your girls! First of all you have to identify the trends for the season. This is we have: Fifties something, Fur real (faux too), Hue new, Man up, the gold economy, the long view and finally Under wraps.

Next you have to identify your style or those that work for you. I'm pregnant and I know I'm going to grow more in the fall months and I'm feminine so that leaves me mostly with the fifties trends, fur trends, the gold economy and under wraps! Manish wardrobe is not my thing and I dont need hue's to draw attention to my body that already has attention growing out of it. hehe.

Finally find the designer style that you think you can interpret in your wardrobe. I've chosen:

So the main trends I will be looking to interpret into my wardrobe this fall are: jumpsuits, leggings, fur, trench coats, adorable knee high boats, cocktail dress with cropped jacket, leopard print, big knits, and gold. I'm going to try to take these elements and work them into a sort of fifties inspired wardrobe.

In the next post I'll show you how I found the peices in the trends I want at an afordable price!

Hello ladies! Its a beautiful day today almost like Sunday was. As a matter of fact Sunday was a record 107 degree farenheit! The hottest ever recorded for the area we live in. Anyway, I've finally uploaded some of the pics from Sunday and thought I'd post the prettiest ones. This is a gorgeous Tower sitting at the edge of the lake.

Isn't it amazing that August is almost knocking at the door. That means summer vacation is almost up. Time to go back to class or take your last summer vacation. Obviously we all want to look fabulous, no?!? Well my friend Sophie has come up with a little incouragement for all us ladies on our dieting quests:

Ok, so if you're on a diet you'll often hear that you need 1500 calories a day (500 less than the 2000 you would need if you weren't dieting). That's reducing your daily calorie intake by 500 calories, right? So if there's seven days in a week, thats 7x500 = 3500 calories you're cutting down. And it just so happens that there are 3500 calories in 1lb of fat. So a 1lb loss is actually an ideal healthy weightloss.

But that's only 1lb. That's like nothing!

Not so, 1lb is roughly equal to 500g. This is what 500g looks like in terms of butter A TUB AN ENTIRE TUB!!
Yep, your average butter tub (go have a look next time you're in Sainsburys!). Now imagine if you spread that whole tub over your whole body. Yeah it would probably just about cover it. If you're anything like me, you're not going to lose that 500g from just one spot, like your tummy or your arms, are you? And don't forget that fat likes to hug around your organs too!

Interesting facts she proposes! Kind of creepy to think their are a few extra TUBS of butter hanging around on your body. Well, from my own experience the best way to get thin and stay thin without building up bulky muscles is *Secret alert* To drink a cup of green tea with honey first thing in the morning and the last thing before you go to bed. Remember to drink 8 glasses of water a day because all of that water flushs anything nasty out of your system. & to walk a good brisk 30-1 hour a day! Brisk walking lengthens and tones the body, trust me! Not to mention its perfectly safe if your expecting, Like me!!!

Hijab Tutorial and a Few Goals

Hey girls,

I thought I'd post this tutorial. I love her bright fun colours. That looks like a top I would have worn back when I was 15 and carefree but I am 19 now and preggo. Its still cute though.

What I really wanted to write about today were goals. I wanted to make a list of goals I want to accomplish before the end of the year.

#1 Open Etsy store before Ramadan/August.

#2 Deliver my baby

#3 Decorate the nursery

#4 finally pick out a car with the hubby. (We have a two seater right now)

#5 Finish house hunting!

#6 Have a super fun/cute baby shower!

My Nursery DiY

Hello Ladies,

I've started working on the nursery. My first project are animal wall art decals that I've been painting! I've started painting them in light and lighter pink stripes just incase its a baby girl *hehe* but if its a boy I'll turn them around and paint them in pitaschio green and yellow stripes!

So far I've done 3 owls about the height of toaster ovens. 1 bouncing bunny the size of an actual cat. and a lion that comes up above my waist. Its a big lion!

These are the leaves I'm going to put on the tree. I've done them in different shades of pink but if its a boy I'll redo them in green/blue. I plan on the tree to come up in the corner behind the babies crib and come up onto the ceiling over it. Its also going to cover half of two walls since the trunk of the tree will be in the corner.

This is a random painting I did for my desk. I thought I'd share it.

Once i get all the decals up on the wall I'll post more pics of the finished project!

What do you girls think? Any other animals or ideas I can add to the room?

The Veiled Bump's Sofa!

I thought I'd share with you girls today what my sofa looks like. I bought this set with the ottoman table and the shag rug. We've had them for 8 months and they still look great. I'm really glad we went against what everyone said and bought a contemporary set. Our friends and family all told us to go with traditional mid-eastern style furniture but we didn't listen. I'm happy we didn't.

Recently I started carrying a shoulder strap bag because my back is starting to ache due to pregnancy. I love this one. I bought it in Amman, Jordan.

This is my Mirror and Keychain. The grocery discount card is also on the keychain. And those cards you see underneath. Those are two discount cards to this store that sells designer clothing and goods. They mail out cards everymonth with a list of events. I usually go for calvein klein sales or for teusday 75% off sales.

Hey!

I found this dress on Ebay.com and I love it! Its perfect for a growing bump, hijabi's or just a girl in want of a cute summer dress!! I love the femininity of it as well as the detailing. Its perfect for me because of the tie back and pleated front. I'll be 5 months next friday and I'm still flat tummied so I really have nothing to worry about yet. Butttt, I do want to prepare for a bump! Maybe I'll show in the 6 month.

I would wear it just like in the pic but with brown or black leather flats. (since I stay home most of the time)

Hijabi's: Try with pastel skinnies and long sleeve underneath, hijab!

Preggo Looks for Hegab Rehab!

Well the time has finally come ladies. After reading Hegab Rehab since I started my blogging adventures roughly 3 years ago I've wondered. When will Ange produce an offspring. And that time has come. She is now the proud owner of a developing BUMP! and specially for her I've come up with a few modest preggo looks! This first one is a casual, school girlish vibed look. It has two key elements #1 flats #2 hat. During pregnancy you over heat! and a hat can help prevent that. Obviously the flats are to help with comfort but they have a second advantage, when your pregnant your center of balance gets way off center so flats can help you walk more gracefully as well as prevent tripping.

Now your probably looking at this look at going 'whaaaat'. But trust me. Open front abaya with a maxi dress underneath is going to be your miracle abaya. Try to get the maxi ankle length though so you wont trip. As for the bag, try a shoulder strap bag. It will ease the back pain thats going to send you to the medicine cabinet almost every night! Also, when your pregnant and your bodies changing it might be a bit hard to feel beautiful or glamorous. Sometimes treating yourself to something small like an adorable pin or clip can help you feel a bit like yourself. Try clipping it on your hijab/bag or even at the closer of your open front abaya.

Also opt for a traditional dubai abaya with square neck and roomy dress. They are made great for pregnancy wear. Other suggestion would be try google or ask another sister if your could have or buy her used maternity gowns! http://www.naila-shop.de/ is an islamic maternity store from denmark but Its not in english so you kind of have to decode it. Unfortunetly pregnant muslima's dont have much choice in terms of Islamic maternity shops but if you get a chance to visit a middle eastern country you could find much more selection and options. Not to mention Western stores are begining to stock ranges of light materialed modest wear!

To be honest I have no idea where I'll be in ten years. If your told me ten years ago that I'd be married to such a great person, pregnant and in college I'd probably of thought you were nuts. But never the less here I am. So in another ten I see myself still very happily married.

I see my ten year old child (still dont know its gender).

I want to be a stay at home wife so that I can homeschool my baby and offer them the best education possible. Give them the world from the comfort of their bedroom.

I'd like to adopt a few pets so that my baby wont be afriad of animals and I'd like to introduce him/her to sports or activities like ballet, soccer, Quran memorization and summer camp!

As Bubbli mentioned, I too hope to have memorized the Quran and be living a blessed life.

I Also hope to have finished both my bachelors degree's and be done with both Master's as well. (I'm working on 2 degrees) Maybe when i'm 29 I can teach distance or online classes to college students.

And if I die before 10 more years I hope I go to Heaven and I hope my family goes on to be happy and healthy!

My Husband as a quick gift picked me up this adorable Jasmine scented Lotion-hand soap duo! They are Karen Neuburger and The scent is just to dye for! The hand and body lotion is infused with shea butter and spreads on the body quite nicely. It isn't thick like other shea infused lotions though. And the Hand soap is infused with vitamins A & E. I've been using these quite a bit and my hands haven't dried up at all! And the best part of all is neither soap nor lotion was tested on animals! These in my opinion are a winner!

Palmer's Cocoa Butter formula massage lotion for stretch marks is something I picked up last week as I'm starting to feel my bump grow and ofcourse I dont want those nasty stretch marks. Its made with Vitamin E, Collagen and Elastin and she butter and is supposed to be clinicaly and dermatologically tested. Scent wise, well its endurable. Its not great but its ok. I hope this works. Do you ladies know of any sure fire stretch mark preventors?

Finally, we come to the JOICO firm finishing spray. I bought a level 4 out of 5 hair spray and i love it. My hair is straight and fine and never takes hold, but this spray definitly helps to create a little volume under my teased poufs! I used it on Monday at my cousins wedding and it held out until the next day! It has a light coconut scent to it and I definitly say this baby is a winner! works wonder for holding style!

Here is look I opted for today. My tank was a gift from Palestine so it had that backhomish vibe. It had a big bow with words around it. To make it a little more grown up I wore a flowy skirt and light weight cardi. Is this a look you would go for?
